Celina Leão Strengthens Support for Women Entrepreneurs in the Federal District

The Vice-Governor of the Federal District, Celina Leão, currently acting as the interim governor, announced a new directive for the Bank of Brasília (BRB), emphasizing the need for the bank to return to its mission of addressing the population’s needs, with a special focus on supporting women.

At an event organized by Sebrae on April 8, 2026, Celina stressed that the BRB should allocate guaranteed resources to boost local entrepreneurship, prioritizing initiatives led by women.

During the meeting, she disclosed having discussed with the BRB’s president, Paulo Nelson de Oliveira, strategies to deploy these resources in partnership with Sebrae, aiming to stimulate economic growth and women’s financial independence through entrepreneurial projects.

Additionally, Celina Leão sanctioned a bill establishing the Women’s Entrepreneurship Support Program in the Federal District. This measure seeks to strengthen small businesses run by women, promoting income opportunities and autonomy through facilitated access to credit, professional training, and technical assistance.

The acting governor highlighted the importance of expanding public policies targeting this demographic, mentioning the active role of Sebrae-DF’s superintendent, Rose Rainha, who has been dedicated to initiatives aimed at empowering women in the market.

The newly approved program sets special financing conditions for women entrepreneurs, offering lower interest rates than those in the traditional market, extended grace periods, and simplified collateral requirements.

These resources can be used in various areas, such as maintaining daily business operations, purchasing equipment, and modernizing operations, ensuring the sustainable development of women-led companies in the Federal District.

This initiative represents a significant step towards reducing financial and structural barriers that many face when starting a business.

Celina Leão also emphasized that the pursuit of equal opportunities is not an exclusive cause for women but a commitment involving the entire society. In her speech, she reinforced that the fight for equal rights and spaces unites men and women in a common goal.

According to the portal Metrópoles, the acting governor reaffirmed the BRB’s commitment to supporting the economic and social development of women entrepreneurs in the region, aligning the bank’s actions with a vision of inclusion and progress.

The expectation is that the program will directly benefit hundreds of women seeking to consolidate their businesses and expand their presence in the local market.

With the support of Sebrae and the financial structure of BRB, the Federal District positions itself as an example of encouraging female entrepreneurship, tackling historical challenges of gender inequality in access to resources and opportunities.

Celina Leão concluded her speech at the event by highlighting that investing in women is investing in the future of the economy and society as a whole, reinforcing the importance of partnerships between public authorities and institutions to achieve concrete and lasting results.
