Europe Demands Ceasefire with Iran Be Extended to Lebanon After 256 Deaths

Israeli attacks have resulted in 256 deaths and 1,100 injuries in Lebanon. The European Union, France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Belgium are pressuring Israel to include Lebanon in the US-mediated truce.

The European Union and five European countries are demanding that the US-mediated ceasefire with Iran be extended to Lebanon.

The pressure follows Israeli attacks that have left at least 256 dead and 1,100 injured in the country.

The EU’s High Representative for Foreign Affairs, Kaja Kallas, stated that Israeli actions put the agreement under significant strain and advocated for the truce to also cover Lebanese territory.

French President Emmanuel Macron condemned the attacks as indiscriminate and warned that they pose a direct threat to the sustainability of the ceasefire.

The demand, reported by the outlet Drop Site, unites France, the United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Belgium around the same call.

Without extending the truce to Lebanon, European governments assess that the risk of military escalation and regional destabilization remains high.
