In the first exhibition of Egyptian antiquities in China under the title “The Top of the Pyramid,” royal statues, coffins and jewelry from different eras of ancient Egyptian civilization will be presented today, Thursday.

The exhibition begins today at the Shanghai Museum and will continue for 13 continuous months, ending in August next year, with great expectations of success and that it will contribute to promoting the Egyptian tourist destination, as Chinese tourism is one of the most important tourist markets in the world due to the number of its people and their desire to know more about civilizations.  old world.

In this regard, the chief archaeologist at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Magdy Shaker, told Al Arabiya.net that 788 important Egyptian artifacts were shipped, carefully selected for this important exhibition, indicating that more than 300,000 tickets were reserved for the exhibition before its opening, in reference to  Its great success from the beginning.

Statues of father and son

The archaeological expert also said that the exhibition dealt with the topic of “Monarchy in Ancient Egypt,” as it will display statues of King Akhenaten and his importance in terms of religious enrichment during his reign, and statues of his son, the Golden King Tutankhamun, who is considered the most famous Egyptian king of all time in all parts of the world.  Because of its exquisite, elaborate, and shining golden treasures, it is a very good choice for the two most important kings of the 18th Dynasty in the New Kingdom era.

Statues of the great King Ramesses II, the owner of the most famous and largest statues in Egyptian civilization, are also displayed, and the political, cultural and artistic role he represents, as well as statues of his son, King Merneptah, who succeeded his father at the age of 66, re-tightening control over the Egyptian borders, and restoring the ancient Egyptian Empire.  With its various borders and treasures.

Queen Iahhotep’s bracelet

Shaker also said that among the exhibits are some distinctive pieces of jewelry from the queens of ancient Egypt, including an exquisitely beautiful bracelet belonging to Queen Iahhotep, the mother of Kings Kamos and Ahmose and the wife of King Seqenenre, to whom the Egyptian people owe the expulsion of the Hyksos from Egypt.

The Egyptian expert believes that had it not been for this family and its role in expelling the Hyksos, the entire history of Egypt and the history of the world would have changed as well, as the Hyksos could have penetrated into the surrounding countries, played the role of the Mongols, and eliminated the most important civilizations of the ancient world.

Papyri for trial in the other world

Papyrus are also displayed for trial in the other world, and they are important papyri as ancient Eastern civilizations share the same beliefs in heaven, hell, reward and punishment, including the ancient Chinese civilization, which is expected to respond positively to this type of papyrus, according to the Egyptian expert.

Magdy Shaker confirmed that he will display some beautiful, colorful coffins from discoveries in the Saqqara region at the Egyptian Antiquities Exhibition in China, and will also display some stuffed animals, in reference to the ancient Egyptian respect for animals
