Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is set to travel to Addis Ababa to attend a summit of African nations. The visit, part of a broader diplomatic effort, aims to strengthen political and economic ties between Brazil and the African continent.

The summit will focus on a range of issues, including trade, investment, and cooperation on climate change and food security. Lula has long advocated for closer relations with Africa, viewing the continent as a crucial partner in creating a new, more balanced global order. His administration has made it a priority to increase trade and cultural exchange with African nations, in an effort to move away from a traditional focus on Europe and the US.

The visit is a clear signal of Brazil’s commitment to South-South cooperation. The summit is expected to result in a number of new agreements and initiatives, further solidifying the growing partnership between Brazil and Africa.
