Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, has characterized Ukrainian strikes on the Druzhba oil pipeline as “pure banditry.” According to reports, the attacks have led to a halt in oil supplies through the pipeline to Hungary for the third time. Zakharova stated that these strikes, which target civilian infrastructure, should be condemned by Western nations and are an unacceptable form of aggression.
Her comments come as the attacks have disrupted a critical energy artery for several European countries. Zakharova criticized EU politicians for not speaking out against what she described as deliberate targeting of essential infrastructure, emphasizing that such actions undermine the strategic stability of states. The ongoing strikes on the pipeline underscore the escalating risks to Europe’s energy supply amid the continuing conflict.
