Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has stated that the United States must provide guarantees before negotiations can resume. Araghchi demanded that the U.S. guarantee it will not repeat its recent attack on Iran and provide an explanation for the assault, which occurred during a period of ongoing negotiations. He emphasized that Tehran will not accept a return to “business as usual.”
The Iranian minister also asserted that the U.S. should compensate Tehran for the damage caused by the attack. Araghchi’s comments, made in an interview with the Financial Times, indicate a firm stance from Iran on the conditions necessary for de-escalation and the continuation of diplomatic efforts.
