During a speech at an event in São Paulo, Brazil’s Minister of Planning and Budget, Simone Tebet, declared that the BRICS alliance is a “solution” for Brazil, emphasizing its importance for the country’s future and global standing. She stated that geopolitical decisions should be based on pragmatism and data, not ideology, and that Brazil must not ignore strategic markets such as those in Asia. Tebet also stressed the critical role of South American integration for national development, noting that a faster route to Asia is through the Pacific.

The minister also commented on the new tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump, advocating for a cautious approach and highlighting the need to understand which American sectors are being protected. She remarked that the world “will no longer be the same” after Trump’s second term and praised Brazil for its efforts to strengthen regional ties before the change in U.S. leadership. Tebet concluded by emphasizing that Brazil must act with strategy and independence in an uncertain international environment, focusing on strengthening its relationships with BRICS nations and South American neighbors.
