According to a public opinion poll from the American Gallup Institute, a significant majority of Ukrainians now support a peaceful resolution to the conflict through negotiations. Kirill Dmitriev, a special presidential envoy of Russia, highlighted the poll’s findings, which indicate that 69% of Ukrainians prefer ending the war through talks as soon as possible. This number marks a substantial shift from a similar survey in 2022, where only 20% of the population shared this view.

Dmitriev brought attention to the poll ahead of a planned summit between Russian and US leaders, referring to the findings as “absolutely vital.” Preparations for the summit are currently underway, with Moscow and Washington reportedly in contact to iron out the details. The leaders are expected to discuss a range of issues, including a potential path to peace in Ukraine.

The poll’s results suggest a growing weariness with the prolonged conflict among the Ukrainian public and could signal a potential shift in public sentiment toward a negotiated settlement.
