Turkiye and Syria have taken significant steps to restart economic ties, with direct land trade resuming after a 13-year suspension. This development, which allows trucks to cross the border directly, is expected to reduce costs and travel time for exporters, boosting regional commerce. The move comes as Turkiye and Syria seek to rebuild their relationship and normalize trade flows that have been severely disrupted by conflict.

Officials from both countries have signed a memorandum of understanding and are actively working to increase bilateral trade, with a goal of reaching $5 billion. This new era of cooperation also includes plans for Turkish investment in Syrian industrial zones and energy projects, such as the export of natural gas. The restart of trade and other initiatives signals a major shift in relations, positioning Turkiye as a strategic economic partner for Syria.
