A recent Genial/Quaest poll indicates that former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has expanded his advantage over current São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas in a simulated vote for the 2026 presidential elections. Lula’s voting intentions have risen to 44%, while Tarcísio’s have remained stable at 33%. The survey shows Lula gaining ground among key demographic groups, including evangelical voters and residents in the South and Southeast regions.

The poll also reveals a significant increase in Lula’s approval rating, which jumped from 49% to 55% in a single month. This surge is largely attributed to positive public perception of the government’s response to recent heavy rains in Rio Grande do Sul. Conversely, rejection rates for Lula have fallen, while those for Tarcísio have seen an increase.

These numbers suggest a consolidation of Lula’s political strength as the country looks toward the next presidential race. The data positions him as a formidable frontrunner, with growing popular support strengthening his leadership for the 2026 electoral contest.
