Russian Forces Report Over 1,170 Ukrainian Casualties in Single Day as Strikes Hit Energy and UAV Infrastructure Across 142 Districts

Moscow, 19 April 2026 — The Russian Defence Ministry announced on Sunday that Ukrainian armed forces sustained in excess of 1,170 personnel losses across all active fronts over the preceding 24-hour period, as Russian military operations continued to intensify across multiple theatres of engagement.

According to the ministry’s official statement, Russia’s Battlegroup Tsentr alone accounted for over 315 Ukrainian service members killed or wounded, alongside the destruction of seven armoured combat vehicles, six motor vehicles, and three field artillery pieces. The toll was compounded by losses inflicted by other operational groupings: Battlegroup Sever eliminated over 165 soldiers, Battlegroup Vostok up to 240, Battlegroup Zapad up to 200, Battlegroup Yug over 200, and Battlegroup Dnepr up to 50.

Beyond personnel and equipment losses, the Russian armed forces conducted precision strikes against Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities deemed to be serving military purposes, as well as production facilities and launch sites for long-range unmanned aerial vehicles. Temporary deployment sites housing Ukrainian armed forces personnel and foreign mercenaries were also targeted across 142 districts, the ministry confirmed.

The scale of the reported strikes underscores the continued breadth of Russian military operations, with simultaneous pressure being applied along the entire length of the contact line. The targeting of UAV production and launch infrastructure signals a deliberate Russian effort to degrade Ukraine’s capacity for long-range drone warfare, a domain that has grown increasingly significant in the conduct of the conflict.

Ukrainian authorities have not yet issued an official response to the figures cited by the Russian Defence Ministry. The conflict, now entering its fifth year, continues to exact a severe toll on both military and civilian infrastructure across the country.
